Athlete Nutrition: Meet Stéphane Vehrlé-Smith
Nuzest is pleased to introduce Stéphane Vehrlé-Smith as its newest sports influencer. Stéphane Vehrlé-Smith is a Brazilian international Field Hockey player. Let’s take a moment to get to know Stéphane.
Q. For those of us who don’t know you, who is Stéphane Vehrlé-Smith?
A. I'm a fortunate person to have very loving, supportive family and friends. I've played a decent level of sport and I coach people daily into better and healthier habits.
Q. What does being a Nuzest ambassador mean to you?
A. It's great and exciting to be a part of something which has a clean and all natural approach with its products. There are a lot of supplement companies out there now, but I've not seen anything like Nuzest before.
Q. How do you make healthy choices and avoid temptations when it comes to your nutrition?
A. I have a mental checklist before I prepare/eat food so I don't create a habit of missing anything which my body needs to function, recover and grow efficiently. For my own sanity, I allow myself to eat less nutritious foods. However, I make sure the healthy choices exceed the unhealthy ones.
Q. What is your favorite indulgence?
A. Double chocolate chip ice cream!
Q. What is your favorite healthy snack?
A. Banana sandwich and a Nuzest Clean Lean Protein shake (Rich chocolate flavor).
Q. When not on the field, how do you stay active and fit?
A. My diet is very good. I do 4 weight sessions per week and some HIIT, either in the park or gym. I've started to hike some weekends now, which I also really enjoy and can be quite demanding physically!
Q. What is your favorite form of exercise (besides field hockey)?
A. Some sort of circuit training where I get my heart rate up, all my muscles working, with little rest.
Q. What are your favorite songs on your workout playlist these days?
A. I'm replaying some older UK Grime at the moment. The likes of Kano, Dizzee Rascal, Chip, Stormzy, Wiley, Wretch 32, This list goes on!
Q. Aside from being a field hockey superstar, what do you do for fun?
A. I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends; whether it be out for dinner, drinks or staying in. I do love traveling, so going to different places when I can is also quite exciting.
Q. What advice do you have for people wanting to kick-start a healthy lifestyle or to pump up their nutrition?
A. I would say, set realistic goals. Start with some smaller changes and build from there. If you expect too much or compare yourself to others, you'll likely fail then reject the idea of the healthier lifestyle which doesn't seem to work for you. No one has your mind or body so learn about yourself and try to enjoy the ride! There's so much out there to pick from now, but be careful, there's no such thing as a quick fix! Lastly, if you want to eat a chocolate bar, bag of crisps, some sweets or drink a soda, do it, just be mindful that it doesn't outweigh the healthy, more nutritious choices you make. Your body is a representation of what you do more often than not - the body doesn't lie!
