Nuzest is pleased to welcome Darian Jenkins as one of our newest sports ambassadors. Darian is an American professional soccer player for OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League. We had the pleasure of sitting down and getting know Darian, so let's see what she had to say!

Q. For those of us who don’t know you, who is Darian?

A. I am a professional soccer player for OL Reign in the NWSL, and I’m currently on loan In France playing for Bordeaux FCGB.

Q. What does being a Nuzest sports influencer mean to you?

A. It means being a part of a company that is conscious about clean ingredients, the environment, and getting rid of the stigma that athletes must eat meat to have protein to perform at their best ability. 

Q. How do you make healthy choices and avoid temptations when it comes to your nutrition?

A. When I am conscious of my nutrition, I try to factor in if what I’m cooking or ordering is going to help me fuel for tomorrow and most importantly the impact it will have on my body and mind down the road. If it isn’t going to help me in the next five days, why indulge in something that I will only enjoy for five seconds. That being said, I do have a sweet tooth, but I try to eat healthier alternatives to my favorite snacks and desserts. 

Q. What is your favorite indulgence?

A. Ya girl loves a chocolate chip cookie. Cookies are definitely my weakness. I did find a way to make them healthier though and made a recipe using Rich Chocolate Clean Lean Protein by Nuzest and collagen peptides. 

Q. What is your favorite healthy snack?

A. My favorite healthy snack is either a chocolate banana smoothie or an apple with peanut/almond butter. They’re both sweet and salty and keep me full until my next meal. 

Q. How do you stay active and fit?

A. Training every day with my club and team keeps me fit, but outside of that I enjoy running, boxing, yoga, dancing. 

Q. What is your favorite form of exercise?

A. I have a tie between yoga and dancing. They both help me shut my mind off and get mentally centered while having fun and breaking a sweat. 

Q. Aside from being a soccer superstar, what do you do for fun?

A. I love to eat out and try new foods, play cards with friends, travel, explore the countries and cities that I’m very fortunate my career takes me. I love to read and I host a book club with my team, so I typically have a book I carry around with me. 

Q. What advice do you have for people wanting to kick-start a healthy lifestyle or to pump up their nutrition?

A. Find clean foods and products and introduce them into your lifestyle so that you can make a habit of eating healthier. I think the largest misconception about food is that when you alter your lifestyle to be healthier, it doesn’t just affect the way that you look but also how your mind and body feel. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring, I recommend following healthy lifestyle cooking accounts and trying out their recipes and making them your own. :)
